Purpose

In order to realize this purpose, this exercise comprises four components: a data-based visual representation of elastic scattering of protons; a description of detection methods used by TOTEM; an explanation of TOTEM’s larger goals of understanding the proton; and an application of the concepts of elastic scattering to particle physics. The discussion about the results of the measurement is the culmination of these four components.
